Beer Workshop: Food Pairing Techniques

$45.00

Learn and taste the techniques for delicious, memorable pairings of beer and food with Master Cicerone Rich Higgins.

Rich will lead a tasting of six choice beers. Students will consider six food items and make guesses about which beer will pair best and which will pair worst with each dish. We will then taste the permutations, and discuss and learn from them. The workshop will end with a slam-dunk pairing.

MENU (Beer pairings will be revealed during the led tasting.)

Beer Workshop: Oak-aged

$40.00

Oak has been a part of beer for centuries, but the quest for clean, repeatable beers has made beers make the switch to stainless steel over the past century and a half. However, the wood-aged, oaky, and sometimes sour beers of centuries past are still as delicious as ever, and they're now influencing a new generation of brewers to experiment with a variety of woods.

Inexpensive + Incredible: How to Spot Good Value Wine

$40.00

There is an incredible assortment of good wine at affordable prices. Unfortunately, navigating a retail shelf can be daunting and difficult. Vinny Eng, most recently the co-director of the wine program at Bar Tartine, wants to demystify the differences between cheap vs. good value and ease the selection process. In this 2-hour tasting seminar, he will guide you through the process of identifying a good value wine. As he share tricks of the trade, he will pour tastes of five of his favorite bottles, each of which retails for under $20.

Tasting Seminar: Natural Wines

$50.00

A two-hour with tasting with Pamela Busch, Luc Ertoran and Chris Scanlan.

Natural wine has become the subject of endless debate and evolving conversations. For many wine drinkers, it is a confusing topic, not least because there is so much disagreement among wine professionals themselves. However, as organic and biodynamic wines have become more popular, it has piqued the curiosity of consumers who want to know not only what makes a wine natural but also how it is influencing winemaking in general.
