Producer Dinner with Bi-Rite and Son of Man Cider
A seated dinner with alcoholic beverage pairings for guests ages 21 and up. Review our reservation and cancellation policies here.
We are excited to host a very special dinner to celebrate the launch of Bi-Rite’s Etxeko cider from Son of Man!
Sam Mogannam, owner of Bi-Rite Market and co-founder of 18 Reasons, will be cooking a feast featuring the Gravenstein apple, a late summer heirloom varietal on the Slow Food Foundation’s Ark of Taste. Each course will feature a cider pairing from Son of Man, a natural Basque-style cidery in the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. Wife and husband team Ella McCallion and Jasper Smith are inspired by the generations of cidermakers in Northern Spain and will be joining us in the dining room to share their stories and love for cider!
When Son of Man invited Bi-Rite to collaborate on an exclusive cider, Sam Mogannam and the team were thrilled. Honoring the tradition of Basque Country, where members of the community flock to the cider houses to drink, eat, and debate over their favorite ciders to be bottled exclusively for them, Bi-Rite worked closely with Son of Man’s Jasper and Ella to select the cider blend that best complements the peak of season produce and delicious meals enjoyed by our guests during the late summer and early fall.
Etxeko translates to “of the house” in Euskara, the ancient Basque language. This year’s Bi-Rite Etxeko blend is primarily Gravenstein apples for an incredibly refreshing Basque-style cider. The limited edition Etxeko will be available at both Bi-Rite Market stores starting the week of July 29, while supplies last.

At Son of Man, we work to perfect a singular craft. Inspired by the generations of cidermakers in Northern Spain, we have set out to make exceptional Basque-style cider. Basque cider is nothing like the sweet alco-pop stuff served in pints here in the states. It is bright and tart, with a hint of Old World funk. Wild-fermented and without added sulfites, Basque cider is as natural as it gets. Visit their website for more information.
