JUST Food with 18 Reasons
What does food justice mean to you? What do food justice and food sovereignty even mean? Learn how your Cooking Matters experience fits into the broader movement for a more just and sustainable food system. During this four hour training, we we will discuss the importance of good food work on a local, regional and global level.
This is the perfect opportunity to meet fellow volunteers and delve deeper into your experience as a Cooking Matters health and nutrition educator. The day will include a hands-on cooking workshop, deep discussions, and personal insights into what good food means to people working in the food justice movement here in the Bay Area. Special guests include Chema Hernandez Gil and Nassim Nobari, founders of Seed the Commons, who will lead a discussion about decolonizing your diet while we make our own tamale lunch.
While this event is tailored for Cooking Matters volunteers, all are welcome.
This training includes a light breakfast, coffee, and lunch.
