Fruit Salon - Still Life Drawing Club

This is a drawing club, not a cooking class. No formal instruction will be provided. Hosts will provide snacks and some art supplies. Wine, N/A beverages and beer will be for sale. This event is limited to 20 guest. You can find our cancellation policy here.
Fruit Salon is a wandering still life event series for all who like to admire, snack, and chat. Your hosts, Gracie Schatz and Erica Dixon, will arrange a still life around a theme and anyone who enjoys drawing is invited to come respond. Pleasurable chatting during the drawing sessions is invited. During breaks we will enjoy an on-theme snack and share what we’ve created. Attendees are invited to bring an on-theme object to add to the still life. The still life will be a response to the season and a celebration of locally sourced foods, flowers and vessels!
No drawing instruction or critique here, though there will be space to share what you've made. We reccomend you bring your own art supplies but we will have some available as well. No large setups (big easels) or oil based mediums. Ticket price includes and abundant, seasonal snack spread. Wine, beer and specialty N/A beverages will be available for purchase with all proceeds from beverage sales going to support 18 Reasons mission.
The theme for June’s’ drawing session will be shared one week prior to the event. We can't wait to draw with you!
Gracie Schatz has been in the food industry for over fifteen years but before she became a cook, she studied fine arts at the University of Oregon where she focused on ceramics and print making. Her career path took a turn when she fell head over heels in love with cooking but she has always maintained a quiet art practice on the side. She started Fruit Salon with her dear friend, Erica, as a way to share her passion for art and invite others to admire and draw seasonal produce and flora. Gracie is thrilled to be working as the head chef at 18 Reasons, a place where she can explore her passion for food, community and creativity.
Erica Dixon is a multidisciplinary creative person based in Oakland, CA whose work bridges visual art practice and social impact. With a background in community development, arts and culture organizing, and impact investing, Erica seeks to inspire connection, inclusivity, and creative collaboration in her work across disciplines. Her art practice integrates drawing and painting, clay sculpture, and gatherings, reflecting a deep commitment to feminist and queer perspectives. In addition to her studio practice, Erica works with small businesses on accessing capital and scaling sustainably through her role at ICA Fund. Most times you can find her enjoying life with family and friends, wandering the East Bay hills and appreciating the Bay Area’s abundant food culture.
