A two-hour tasting seminar, served with light snacks to cleanse the palate. We highly recommend eating a heavy snack or meal before arriving.

Long-time heavyweights, French and Italy usually hog the spotlight in the European wine world. Yes, they make delicious wine, but their neighbors on the Iberian peninsula and further east have been making wine longer than France and Italy combined. And pretty amazing and storied ones at that. In this class, we'll shift the spotlight to Spain, Portugual, Croatia, Slovenia, and even Bosnia and Georgia.

Former wine bar manager and cheese expert Kirstin Jackson will lead you through a tasting tour of these quieter regions. You'll learn their wine history, geography and how some countries continued making wine through civil war and state vineyard takovers. And of course, we'll taste. Prepare to meet your new wine crushes.

You'll leave with a new understanding of wine regions that though aren't as awarded as say, Burgundy, make some of the most beautiful and budget friendly wines in the world.

Author of It’s Not You, it’s Brie: Unwrapping America’s Unique Culture of CheeseKirstin Jackson is a cheesemaking teacher, wine and cheese educator, and writer. She loves teaching people how to make ricotta and creamy burrata pillows as much as she adores pairing her new favorite local cheese with wine. She blames her parents who took her on trips to the California dairy country at a very young age for feeding her current obsession.
