Registration and Cancellation Policies

Thinking of attending one of our events? Please familiarize yourself with our current policies regarding cancellations, waitlists, COVID, and more.

Cancellation and Transfer Policy

We require at least 7 calendar days' prior notice for all cancellation requests; seven days does not include the date of the event. We offer event credit only, less a nonrefundable 4% processing fee. You must email your cancelation request to info@18reasons.org. If you notify us about your cancellation within a week of your event, we cannot offer you event credit; however, you are welcome to send someone else in your place. For example, if your event is scheduled for March 15, your last day to cancel and receive credit is March 8.

If you sign up for a multi-day event (ex. 2-Day Workshop, 3-Week Series), you must submit your cancellation request at least 7 calendar days before the first day of the event. We are unable to offer partial credit or refunds if you are unable to attend a portion of the series.

We cannot transfer tickets between different event dates. You must cancel your original registration, receive event credit (if notice is given at least 7 days ahead), then register for the new event date.

If you are thinking of purchasing a ticket as a gift, we encourage you to consider purchasing a gift card, which can be used towards an event that fits the recipient's schedule. If you purchase a ticket as a gift for someone else, the cancellation policy will apply.

Waitlist Procedure

When a class is sold out, a waitlist widget will appear with the title "Join the Waitlist!". Enter your email address and number of tickets you want. We'll email you if a ticket(s) becomes available for purchase on our website.  Upon receiving the email notification, you will need to visit the class webpage to purchase the ticket before another shopper does.

Online Class Policy

Participating in 18th Street Kitchen Online is a shared honor between the participating students, instructor, and staff. We all receive a glimpse into another's home. 18 Reasons asks all students to be respectful of the information others will share during class. Students who participate in classes assume all responsibility for their ability to participate, including having the appropriate technical equipment and ensuring their own wellbeing in class. Click here to access a helpful guide about how to take an online class with 18 Reasons.

Accommodation of Dietary Restrictions

Please contact us about any dietary restrictions or allergies pertinent to the event you're interested in at info@18reasons.org before you buy your tickets, and we will do our best to accommodate you, if possible. Be aware that we use a shared kitchen, and that allergens could have come into contact with any of our pans, utensils, etc. If you have a severe allergy, take any precautions you would normally take when going out to eat in a shared-use restaurant kitchen, for example.

Youth Attendee Policy

We welcome youth registrations on a case-by-case basis. Our youth policy allows students between ages 8-18 to attend alongside an adult who can be fully responsible for their behavior and safety; no children under 8 are allowed in cooking classes. Please email info@18reasons.org prior to signing up to confirm with the chef instructor whether the class can accommodate a guest aged 8-18 years. If approved, you will need to buy a ticket for the child and a ticket for yourself (or the accompanying adult).

Exceptions to this policy are tasting seminars (i.e. wine tasting classes), where all students must be at least 21 years old. It also does not apply to our programs designed exclusively for youth, like our Teen Culinary Immersion series; youth may attend such programs on their own without an adult. Community Dinner is open to registrations for guests of all ages.

Gift Card Refund Policy

All 18 Reasons gift card purchases are non-refundable as of 3 business days after purchase. If you have purchased a gift card and are unable to use it, consider gifting it to a friend or converting your gift card purchase into a donation. We are a nonprofit cooking school, so donations to 18 Reasons are tax-deductible. Contact info@18reasons.org for next steps to convert your gift card purchase into a donation or requesting a refund. If a refund request is sent within 3 business days of purchase, we can offer a refund back to your credit card, less a nonrefundable 4% payment processing fee.

Recording Policy

By registering for an 18th Street Kitchen event (in-person and online events), you consent to photography, audio recording, video recording, and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for news, promotional purposes, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by 18 Reasons and its affiliates and representatives. 18 Reasons may record and publish online classes that include student interactions, and will replace all visuals of students' kitchens, but will preserve audio. If you wish not to be photographed or recorded, please let an 18 Reasons staff member know upon joining the event on the day of your event.

Other Policies:

Class menus are subject to change based on seasonality and ingredient availability.

All classes are subject to cancellation or rescheduling; you will be notified via email about such changes.
