A lecture and hands-on class experience. Guests will have a snack of a variety of seasonal ferments and take home two fermentation projects.

The art of fermentation preserves and enhances foods and flavors of the season. Learn to create ferments that deliciously support health, gently cleansing and nourishing you and supporting your body.

In introductory class, Nishanga will introduce you to the basics of fermentation and its effect on your diet and health with a brief lecture. You will become familiar with the basic techniques that will help you transform produce into nutritious, probiotic foods, with a focus on seasonality and letting nothing go to waste. We will taste a variety of seasonal ferments and make use of local produce to make preserved lemons and a seasonal sauerkraut. We provide sterilized jars, and everyone will leave with their own!
