Not only is dark beer is delicious, but it's historically important and scientifically complex. Dark malts offer beer incredible depth and malt nuance, contributing caramels, Maillard flavors, bitterness, acidity, astringency, and affecting minerality. Oh, and did we mention they're delicious?

Join Master Cicerone Rich Higgins for this fun and informative tasting and discover all that dark beers have to offer. We'll learn about dark beer from the perspectives of maltsters, brewers, cicerones, and chefs. We'll taste several different types, including schwarzbier, porters, stouts, bock, Belgian ale, black IPA, and barrel aged beer. We'll celebrate SF Beer Week!
