Transport yourself to the streets of Paris on a chilly night, ducking into a cozy side street bistro to find comfort in iconic French bistro fare. Together, with our resident French chef instructor, Zoé McLaughlin, you'll explore classic French bistro dishes with an emphasis on technique and depth of flavor.
You’ll prepare a warm goat cheese salad, learning how to balance creamy, crisp, and acidic elements. A vegetarian take on French onion soup follows, using porcini mushrooms to build a rich, savory broth and focusing on proper onion caramelization for maximum flavor. The class finishes with crème brûlée, where you’ll practice custard fundamentals and achieve a smooth set with a crisp caramelized top.
This is an ideal class for cooks who want to refine foundational skills while creating comforting, bistro-style vegetarian dishes. Although many of the celebrated dishes of French cuisine are impressive, they needn't be intimidating. Let’s cook together!
